EQUIRESP® is an exceptionally complex feed supplement developed exclusively to support the cleansing and healthy function of the equine respiratory system, including the nasal cavity, nasopharynx, oral cavity, larynx, trachea and bronchi.
Similar formulations have been successfully used for years in livestock production and in companion animals—especially dogs—to support respiratory health.
Although EQUIRESP® is not a medicinal product, its formula and the synergistic interaction of its ingredients were carefully designed to fully utilize the power of nature (herbs, essential oils and antioxidants) to support breathing and improve quality of life without medication.
Based on customer feedback, this goal has clearly been achieved, as EQUIRESP® has become one of the most popular and sought-after respiratory supplements among horse owners.
Already after the first 1–2 days of feeding, positive effects on the upper airways (nasal cavity, nasopharynx, pharynx, larynx) may be noticeable. Noisy breathing and excessive nasal discharge often begin to subside, the nostrils appear more open, and signs of easier breathing become evident.
After several more days of use, EQUIRESP® begins to act deeper within the respiratory system. Visible airway-cleansing effects may appear as accumulated mucus and deposits from the lower airways (trachea, main bronchi and smaller bronchi) start to loosen and clear. This process typically eases over a few days, and eventually the mucus becomes clear and transparent again, as it should be, allowing it to fully perform its protective function.
As a result, breathing becomes easier and deeper, fatigue related to respiratory strain may decrease, stamina improves, and overall well-being and quality of life are enhanced.
With longer-term use, many horses also show a noticeable reduction—or in some cases disappearance—of chronic cough-like symptoms.
VERY IMPORTANT
During the feeding of EQUIRESP® (and in general at all times), horses must have continuous access (ad libitum) to high-quality hay or another adequate fiber source. Horses are natural constant grazers, and proper fiber intake is essential.
Additional Benefits
One important indirect benefit of EQUIRESP® is immune system support and improved resistance to illness. Many infections enter the body via the respiratory tract. When the natural defense mechanisms of the airways function properly, the incidence of respiratory symptoms and diseases can be significantly reduced.
This immune-supporting effect can be further enhanced by combining EQUIRESP® with a dedicated immune supplement such as MULTIVITAMIN PRO, or with electrolyte, salt-replacement and hydration products like HYDRALYTE.
Due to its essential oil content, long-term use (beyond 3–4 weeks) is recommended alongside a gastric mucosa-protective supplement (e.g. SHIELD) or a probiotic gut-stabilizing product (e.g. HERBABIOM®).
Important Notice
EQUIRESP® is a highly effective feed supplement, but not a medicine. As with any supplement intended to support or manage specific symptoms or conditions, it is essential to consult the attending veterinarian. In some cases, medicinal treatment (such as antibiotics or anti-inflammatory therapy) may be necessary.
The good news is that EQUIRESP® can support and enhance the positive effects of medical treatments, and in many cases may help shorten recovery time.
When do we recommend feeding EQUIRESP®?
- primarily in cases of noticeable respiratory issues such as excessive nasal discharge, coughing, labored breathing or fatigue
- when horses are kept or worked in dusty environments for extended periods
- when infection pressure is high (e.g. shared stables with horses showing respiratory symptoms)
- during hot weather, damp or cold periods, or before and after intense training, exercise or transport—together with electrolyte supplementation (HYDRALYTE)
- as a supportive supplement alongside medical treatments
- as part of immune-support programs, together with other targeted immune supplements (MULTIVITAMIN PRO)
